A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport where 21 people were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals are still being held, authorities confirmed.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
